New research has also revealed that people who live close to roads could have a higher risk of dementia and, according to David Newby, British Heart Foundation professor of cardiology at the University of Edinburgh, air pollution is responsible for an average loss of life expectancy of six months across the UK; further reasons to escape the towns and cities and live by the sea.
