More than 400 children in Tenby, Pembrokeshire began the new school year in brand new schools with the opening of the new English medium Tenby Church in Wales VC Primary School and the Welsh medium Ysgol Hafan Y Mor. These replace the old Tenby VC Infants and Tenby Junior Schools and cater for children between the ages of 3 and 11.
The two new schools represent an £8.37 million investment in education in the town. The Tenby Church in Wales school incorporates eco features, including a substantial number of photovoltaics, which has resulted in it being rated as excellent by the Bream environmental accreditation method.
A number of new primary schools have opened throughout the County in the last few years and the replacement of the two secondary schools in Haverfordwest is in the consultation stage.
