“Fast Broadband speed is at the top of the list of requirements for most of our clients for whom we are conducting property searches”, says Carol Peett of West Wales Property Finders. “A Broadband slow spot can knock as much as 25% off the price of a house. The inability to access broadband has rendered some properties virtually unsaleable over the last couple of years, with the internet now part of daily life for everyone from retirees to children requiring it for their school work. Where previously it was mainly the concern of people working from home, now the internet has become an entertainment hub, with people downloading films and playing on line games; thus the Broadband speed has become a vital aspect of a property”.
More than 23,500 homes and businesses in Pembrokeshire can now access fast fibre Broadband due to the Superfast Cymru programme, with Tenby becoming the latest area to benefit. Haverfordwest, Johnston, Milford Haven, Neyland, Pembroke and Saundersfoot are already reaping the benefits of the faster upload and download speeds.
Hebron, Crymych, Crosswell, Treffgarne and Letterston are to be switched on in March, with work beginning this month on connecting Fishguard, Broadhaven, Narberth, Newport, Carew, Manorbier and Clynderwen as part of the Superfast Cymru roll-out.
The Welsh Government’s aim is to provide 96% of premises in Wales with access to fast fibre Broadband by the end of Spring 2016.
