Plans to launch Wales’s first commercial seaplane service are in the discussion stages, according to Cardiff Business Council.
The service would see seaplanes running between Cardiff Bay and Swansea, a journey of about 20 minutes. This would tie in perfectly with the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon plans, supported in the Chancellor’s recent budget, as calm water is required for landings.
Other routes would see the capital linked to mid and North Wales via Bala Lake and Lake Vyrnwy. Discussions are also taking place with London City Airport to utilise the docks around the airport for a commuter service to London.
According to a spokesman for Cardiff Business Council a feasibility study is being carried out and the service could be launched within months if the numbers stack up.
If launched the service would provide a great boost to both business and tourism.
