Narberth in Pembrokeshire, West Wales has been named the UK’s cleanest and greenest town in the UK, after the findings of a new report that examines the nation’s cleanest areas based on recyclable waste, air and water quality and social media data.
The Clean Britain Report by Holiday Cottages ranks the cleanliness of the UK’s cities and towns by comparing the quality of; recycling, air quality, water quality and frequency of social media updates relating to sustainability.
Narberth was revealed to be the UK’s cleanest town with a score of 7.28 out of 10, followed by Penicuik in Midlothian, and Didcot in Oxfordshire.
With 53.04 per cent of its waste sent for recycling, and 93.92 per cent percent of its water classed as good quality, the town which is in the running for the ‘Champion’ category of the ‘Great British High Street Awards’ for 2019, has proven itself to be the UK’s greenest town.
Judges fort the ‘Great British High Street’ will be visiting the town on Thursday, September 19.
