Major multi-million pound plans to develop Milford Marina have been given the green light by planners.
In 2015 outline planning was granted for a major overhaul of the Milford Waterfront.
The revised plans show that the development will include up to 190 units of residential property, extended office space, up to 70 additional marina berths and a large indoor leisure facility. Two upmarket hotels are to be added with the desire to create a leisure and tourist destination and a high quality restaurant on stilts is envisaged for the north end of the marina. A pedestrian bridge will link the two marina sections along with developed links to the town centre.
The new master plan also retains the Grade II listed former dockyard office and will see it developed to include an auditorium.
The marina currently has some good quality retail outlets, residential and office property as well as excellent bars and restaurants.
It is expected that hundreds of jobs will be created by the scheme, both in the construction stage and once completed, with millions pumped into the local economy. Around £15.7 million is expected to be generated each year with £6.1m staying in Pembrokeshire and around £9 million in Milford Haven.
A significant increase in visitors to the area – around 300,000-4000,000 – is also predicted once the master plan is in place.
