The latest figures from the Land Registry, which are based on sold prices so are the only truly accurate figures, show an annual price increase of 3.4% across the whole of Wales; taking the average property value to £150,258 compared with £225,956 in England.
Detached houses in Wales showed the largest price increase with a 5.4% rise in the year to August 2016.
Sales volumes in June 2017 were 13.4% higher than in June 2016.
In London, an annual price increase is shown of just of 2.6% which takes the average property value to £484,362.
