Carol Peett, the managing director of West Wales Property Finders, estimates that 65 per cent of her buyers request a sea view, even though it can double the price of a new home. According to the latest research by Knight Frank, the average national premium paid for a sea view stands at 73 per cent.
Some homes marketed as having a sea view can be a disappointment — only a peep of blue from the upstairs bathroom. Others have the kind of vistas that are so heart-stopping that paying twice the price of a similar home a street or two farther away seems perfectly sensible.
