When it comes to Christmas markets, people tend to think of the famous markets in Germany and Austria but think again. Superb Christmas markets can be enjoyed closer to home, here in Pembrokeshire.
The season kicks off with the Colby Woodland Garden Winter Fair on 15th November. Set in beautiful wooded gardens and grounds, the market not only offers a chance to purchase presents and treats to take home but also an opportunity to explore the woodland garden. Admission is free and dogs on leads are welcome.
The weekend of 15th-16th also see the Winter Frost Fair at Scolton Manor where local crafters and food producers will be selling delightful treats and festive gifts in the lovely setting of the Victorian Manor house. Look for that perfect gift in the Drawing Room, Library or Empire room, enjoy a taste of Pembrokeshire in the Victorian Kitchen and find fairies, photos and books in the Cellar. Scrumptious hot food and drinks will be available to help sustain you.
Something rather different is taking place on 22nd November when Manorbier Castle hosts a ‘Moroccan’ Christmas Bazaar. Within the grounds of the castle a wide selection of stalls for food, treats and gorgeous gifts will surely add some inspiration to your shopping! With mulled wine and homemade mince pies available for the grown ups, there’s falconry, bushcraft and a grotto for children!
Also on 22nd and 23rd November Picton Castle and gardens open its doors to a fabulous Christmas market . This fundraising event is set in the stunning castle, all decked out in Victorian finery. With Maria’s restaurant on site where you can enjoy delicious Spanish tapas, free mulled wine and a Santa’s grotto and play park for the children, this is a great day out.
The following weekend, 28th-30th November, it is the turn of Pembroke Castle to hosts it’s Christmas market. With the castle lit up with Christmas lights, it’s a truly magical. Father Christmas will be arriving on Friday evening to meet everyone and lead the procession through the centre of Pembroke where he will be handing out gifts, and on Saturday and Sunday he will be in his Grotto from 11am.
