The announcement by the Chancellor of the Exchequer that the Government will be subsidising the new Tidal Lagoon in Swansea confirms that West Wales is now the natural home of Green Energy. Over the last five years several solar parks and wind farms have been constructed and are now operational in Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire & Ceredigion. Most exciting is the new tidal generation project in Ramsay Sound, just off the coast at St David’s. St. Davids, the smallest City in Britain, is also aiming to become the first carbon-neutral city in the world (although admittedly also one of the smallest with a population of just 1,600!) and this continual investment in green technology has encouraged people from around the world to base themselves in West Wales to take advantage of this new ‘Green Hub’.
