Research from a survey of 2,000 people undertaken by Gocompare.com revealed that most people’s dream home is a new build, 4 bedroom house in the country. It may be our dream but sadly only one in ten actually achieve their idyllic house, according to the survey.
The average homeowner’s ideal property would include 4 bathrooms, two of them en-suite; a kitchen-diner for daily use and, perhaps surprisingly in this age of eat in kitchens, a dining room. There are also some more extravagant requirements including 2 rooms for the children and an indoor swimming pool. The survey also found that, whilst the average Briton favours a rural setting and a sea view, they are not willing to sacrifice convenience. A corner shop, post office and pub nearby are essential and the property must be within 5 miles of the nearest town. Homeowners also wish to live in the same village as their mother and father and up to 4 close friends.
