
According to the latest figures from the insurance company NFU Mutual, 100,000 people leave UK cities every year for the countryside. It is a migration that is keeping property search agents busy. “Demand for big country houses, in particular, is strong,” says Carol Peett, director at West Wales Property Finders. “There are two reasons for this — the past couple of hot summers, which have made people appreciate rural Britain again, and homeowners in the southeast running scared of a possible mansion tax.”
