Opening your own posh campsite is one way to fund country living says Fred Redwood
Glamping is helping a growing number of families realise the dream of country life. That’s because running a site offering the luxury version of camping can be a savvy way to turn a profit while living in a beautiful location……
Carol Peett of West Wales Property Finders, reports that they have been springing up all over the place in recent years.
“The most popular are those near beaches on the Pembrokeshire coast’, she says. ‘But sites on farms appeal to families with young children and those that are hidden away in woodland or in the Brecon Beacons attract walkers’.
But she has a warning for newcomers. ‘There are stringent planning conditions on glamping sites so it is imperative that you talk to the planning department at the local council or the National Pars planning department before advertising for business’.
‘As a rule it would be wise to choose a site with easy access to local shops, pubs and restaurants, so that guests don’t have to trek too far for food if the fish aren’t biting or the fire won’t light. Good washing ad toilet facilities are important and, if you want visitors to return, you would do well to provide a little luxury in the form of wood-burning stoves, high thread Egyptian cotton linen and sheepskin rugs’…….
