A study by the Light Pollution Science and Technology Institution in Italy suggests that more than a third of the World’s population can no longer see the Milky Way on a clear night because of light pollution. Staring at a starry sky is good for the soul – it makes us feel as if we have seen something sacred, and gives us a sense of perspective, say scientists at the University of California, Berkeley. Their study concluded that people who had recently been stargazing tended to be kinder, more altruistic and less materialistic…………
The UK has its own dark sky body whose “Dark Skies Discovery Sites” include the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park (£253,540 for the average property), Lake District National Park (£347,080) North York Moors National Park (£270,030) and Yorkshire Dales (£317,080)……
For skygazing on the beach, the twinkly stars above the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park are the natural equivalent of a night in Las Vegas, according to Carol Peett, the head of the agency, West Wales Property Finders.
